The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant administrative reshuffle, transferring 10 senior IAS officers to new roles with immediate effect. The changes come as the state gears up for upcoming by-elections, a move seen as aimed at boosting efficiency and driving rapid results in key sectors.
Among the notable appointments, 2004 batch IAS officer Dr. Raj Shekhar has taken over as Managing Director of UP Jal Nigam, replacing the previous incumbent. Additionally, Anil Garg, an IAS officer from the 1996 batch, has been entrusted with the additional responsibilities of State Nodal Officer for the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana and MD of UP Land Reforms Corporation, on top of his current roles.
In another prominent shift, Manoj Singh, a 1989 batch IAS officer and Additional Chief Secretary of Forest, has been placed on the waiting list, a development that has raised eyebrows within the administration. Additional appointments include Anil Kumar (III) from the 1989 batch, who now holds the dual charge of Principal Secretary of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department. Meanwhile, Ravi Ranjan, from the 2014 batch, remains the MD of UP Electronics Corporation Limited, with Sanya Chhabra, a 2019 batch officer, stepping in as MD of the UP State Tourism Development Corporation, and Pranata Aishwarya, also of the 2019 batch, as MD of UP Agro.
Prabhash Kumar from the 2017 batch has been appointed as Director of Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, as well as Joint MD of Jal Nigam (Rural). Additionally, promotee IAS officers Uday Bhanu Tripathi (2011 batch SCS) and Dr. Kanchan Saran (2013 batch SCS) have taken on roles in the Urban Development Department and the State Women’s Commission, respectively.
